Permanent Christmas Lights That Stay Up All Year

Permanent Christmas lights are permanent outdoor lights that mount along your roofline once and stay up all year. Brighter Nights Lighting Technologies makes a permanent roofline lighting system, and a certified installer puts it on your home.

The short answer

What are permanent Christmas lights?

They are color changing lights in an aluminum track that sits along your roofline. The track goes up one time. After that you pick the colors from an app on your phone.

In December that means red, green and white. You do not hang anything. You do not take anything down in January. The same lights handle every other holiday too.

Brighter Nights Lighting Technologies (BNLT) is the manufacturer. The product is its permanent roofline lighting system. You can see every detail on the permanent roofline lighting page.

How it works

How do permanent Christmas lights work?

The track goes up once

A certified installer mounts aluminum track along your roofline. The track comes in 3 foot sections. The lights sit 12 inches apart.

You pick the look in the app

Open the app and choose your Christmas colors. The system runs on Bluetooth mesh, so it does not depend on Wi-Fi.

It changes with the season

Tap a new look for the next holiday. Tap again to go back to warm white for an ordinary night.

Architectural downlighting

Soffit lighting that shows off your architecture

Not every home wants a line of light on the roof edge. Architectural downlighting places small, focused lights in the soffit, so light washes down the wall and brings out stone, siding and columns.

The spacing is part of the look. You do not need a light every few inches. A few lights on, then a gap, then a few more. In these two homes one light is on and three or four sit dark between them, and the result reads as deliberate and clean instead of busy.

One on, three or four off

The same system also runs in either white. Warm white gives a soft, welcoming glow. Cool white looks crisp and modern. Your installer helps you match the white to your home.

Your style, all year

The same lights, every night of the year

In daylight you see a slim line of track along the roofline. Your installer helps you choose a track color that suits your trim, so the track blends in with the house.

At night you decide what it does. Keep a bright cool white for security. Set a warm white for an easy evening. Switch to orange and purple for fall, or to the colors you love for summer. Christmas is one setting out of many. See how the system handles permanent Halloween lights.

The app

Your whole house in your pocket

Open the app, tap a look, and the roofline changes. Choose a color, a brightness or a saved scene. Switch from security white to Christmas colors in a few seconds, from the couch or the driveway.

The system runs on Bluetooth mesh, so it does not depend on Wi-Fi. A Wi-Fi Gateway is an optional add on if you want control when you are away from home.

Getting it installed

How do I get permanent Christmas lights installed?

BNLT is a manufacturer. BNLT does not install lighting and does not sell direct to homeowners. The system is sold through distributors nationwide and installed by certified installers. Here is how it works for a homeowner.

1. Fill out one formSend a photo of your home through the free design form.
2. Get your design and estimateBNLT sends back a picture of your home with the lighting on it and an estimated installed range.
3. Meet your certified installerBNLT matches you with one certified installer for your address. Your installer gives you the final quote, sets the schedule and does the install.

Your installer orders the system from a stocking distributor. Product ships in 3 to 5 days. You deal with one installer from start to finish.

Timing

Can I get permanent Christmas lights installed before the holidays?

It depends on your installer’s calendar. BNLT does not install, so BNLT cannot promise you a date. Your certified installer sets the schedule.

Distributors stock the system and it ships to contractors in 3 to 5 days. After that, timing comes down to how busy your installer is.

Installers get busier as the holidays get closer. The sooner you send the form, the more dates you have to choose from.

If the calendar is full before Christmas, the lights are still worth installing. They are permanent, so they are ready for every holiday after that.

Why permanent

Why choose permanent lights over hanging lights every year?

No ladder every yearNothing goes up after Thanksgiving. Nothing comes down in January.
Nothing to storeNo bins, no tangles and no dead strands next season.
Every holiday on one systemChristmas, Halloween, game day and birthdays all run on the same lights.
Backed by a warranty10 years on the track and light strand. 3 years on the controller and power supply. Register within 60 days of installation.

Questions

What do homeowners ask about permanent Christmas lights?

How much do permanent Christmas lights cost?

It depends on the length of your roofline and the shape of your home. BNLT keeps its current price range in the permanent outdoor lighting cost guide. For a number on your own home, send a photo through the free design form.

Are permanent Christmas lights worth it?

They make the most sense if you pay someone to hang lights every year, or if you are done climbing a ladder. You also get lighting on your home every other night of the year. This article compares permanent Christmas lights and seasonal lights.

Can I install permanent Christmas lights myself?

No. This is not a do it yourself kit. The system is sold through distributors to contractors, and a certified installer puts it on your home.

How long do permanent Christmas lights last?

The system is built to stay on your home all year. The track and light strand carry a 10 year warranty. The controller and power supply carry a 3 year warranty, and the controller can be upgraded to 5 years. Register the system within 60 days of installation to activate coverage.

Do permanent Christmas lights need Wi-Fi?

No. The lights run on Bluetooth mesh and do not depend on Wi-Fi. A Wi-Fi Gateway is an optional add on if you want to control the lights when you are away from home.

Can I get permanent Christmas lights outside Florida?

Yes. BNLT sells through distributors nationwide. A certified installer anywhere in the country can order the system and have it shipped in 3 to 5 days.

What are the downsides of permanent Christmas lights?

The track stays on your home all year, so choose a track color you like in daylight. It is a bigger one time project than hanging a strand of lights. It also takes a certified installer, so your timing depends on their calendar.
